MamaHood Monday : Self Support for Mom Guilt

As much as I wish I could say that mom guilt is not a thing it most definitely is and it sucks. Most everything in life becomes a double edged sword where you are always nagging yourself for something you could have done differently or just better. Well there is hope! The way today talk to yourself has a profound impact on all things you do including being a mom and how satisfied you are with your mom-ing at the end of the day. I wanted to share a few things I will tell myself when I need a little extra support that usually bring me back down to earth.

1. “Do a days work in a day” you night have heard this in a work setting, but I think it applies to all areas in life. There is no way in hell that I am going to get everything done in one day that I want to – I am only one person and the housework is not going anywhere (sadly) so make priorities and try to stay productive throughout the week – it is amazing what a few minutes here and there can do!

2. “Everyone struggles as a parent, don’t compare your beginning with someone else’s middle” in the world we live in is it so easy to start comparing your life to others and I am sure you have seen those parents that look like they have it all together. Well, newsflash! They don’t, some people are just better actors than others

3. “Quality time can sometimes be greater than quantity” As a working mom this is something I have to remind myself of a lot. 2-3 solid hours of being together at night and paying full attention to each other is what counts. (And this is also my favorite part of the day) this means I am not on my phone or a computer and I am usually down on the floor with her playing – unless we are eating dinner of course

4. “No one can love your baby like you can” I will be the first to admit that sometimes I do get envious of our daycare provider because she is able to be with Rosie so much. Although my rational mind reminds me that she is also with other children and I am sure she sometimes wants to pull out her hair my irrational mind feels guilty. But the truth is I am always going to be her mom, that no one will ever love her like I do and when we are together making that time count is what matters most

Do you have any tips or tricks for combating mom guilt?

Happy Monday

MamaHood Monday : Teething Favorites

img_6730img_6729img_6728

Every new parent knows the struggle that it teething. Not only is it a unpleasant experience for your baby, but it really sucks being in a situation where not much comforts your little one. Well the good news is that in this day and age you are bound to find a product that works for you and your little love. Today I am sharing my top five favorites and a few tips that worked for us as well.

#1. Nuby Ring

Rosalie loved this thing! so stimulating to hold and chew on and she loved the primary colors. It is also awesome to throw in the fridge for a few and once chilled is a good source of relief

2. Banana Toothbrush / Teether

At Rosie’s one year appointment the doctor suggested we start brushing her teeth, even if it was not with toothpaste. After hearing this I remembered that I received two of these bananas at my baby shower so they came out of the closet and got put to use. I love them because they not only brush her teeth, but she also uses them as teething relief and as a toy.

3. Latch Pacifier

If you have been here for a while you know I love these pacifiers! They are my complete favorite and Rosie’s (when she does take a pacifier these are the only ones)

4. Nuby Teething Keys

These are a oldie but a goodie! My mom made me get these before Rosalie even started teething and I was so thankful that she did. You are able to cool it in the fridge or freezer and boy does it help. I also really like these keys because I can use a pacifier lanyard to clip them somewhere so there is no chance they will be thrown* on the ground.

5. Fresh Food Feeder

If you are not familiar with these I am sure it looks completely odd, but it is such a good idea! a way for your little one to enjoy large foods safely – For us it was all sorts of melon. I will definitely suggest cold watermelon (or any melon) if you have a baby teething around the summer. healthy food, and a cool relief on those little gums.

My last few tips for a teething baby is to first, have lots of patience – remember your little one is in pain so they are going to need you!

Sometimes a cold or frozen towel will do the trick – Rosie used to gnaw on all her blankets!

And finally, playing helps. Keeping their mind off of the discomfort makes it more enjoyable for all, and it may be a challenge to get them to sleep, but hopefully all that play wore them out enough that they will stay that way!

Hop you are having a great start to the week!

Great Questions to Ask Your Interviewer

bright-bulb-dark-132340.jpg

We have all been there, the dreaded moment in a interview where the interviewer asks, “Do you have any questions for me?” and you sit there stumped, having no idea what to say, and in the end you are more than likely not offered the job. Well I am sure that you now know that this question is one of the many tests they give you during a interview and the more questions you have the better.Below are my top five questions I ask during every interview even if it is a position in a company I already work for…

#1. What made you come to work here and why do you stay?

So this is two questions is one, but it really gets the interviewer talking about      themselves and gives you a idea of how the company attracts and attains employees. I also finds that it can give you a good amount of insight as to how happy your interviewer is in their position

#2. How would you define the company culture here?

Such a interview question right?! Well, as with anything in life everything is not for everyone and sometimes it is better to know if your potential employers style does not fit yours. For example, if there is a very strict office setting with little employee socialization and you are a social butterfly wanting to know all your co-workers on a personal level – Probably not the right fit for you!

#3. What traits do you think are most important for a person to posses in this role?

Not only will this question help you to further sell yourself for the position based on the interviewers response, but it will also give you insight into what a ideal employee might look like for the role.

#4. Can you explain to me what the standard career path would look like for someone starting out in this position?

Since I am a A type personality I want to have as much information upfront as possible, this includes wither or not there is a set career path for my next role once hired. Many a times if the interviewer cannot explain what the next steps would be that raises a red flag for me – especially in a larger company. After all, no one wants to feel stuck in a role with no direction for finding a new one!

#5. What does the company do to continue learning and development in my role once hired and throughout my career?

Although training can sometimes be repetitive and, can we be honest, boring, I really like to know upfront what kind of support I will be receiving from my leadership once hired. Is education a growth a consistent concern within the company or do they only offer training until you know how to do your job then you are thrown to the wolves?

I would love to hear some of your go-to interview questions, or if you are the one that interviews people what is a question that impresses you?

Happy Friday!

Beauty : 5 Products I Use Daily

I am a firm believer that not all great things or products have to be expensive, and often times the unexpected can surprise you. Even though Fall is approaching and a change in season usually means a change in products I thought I would share 5 of my favorite products that I use daily.

1. Ciate Eyeliner and Stamp This eyeliner is hands down my favorite and that is a huge statement to make because I have tried a lot of eyeliners! It is so pigmented, dried matte and does not crack it flack at all. The application is really smooth and what’s better is it comes with a star stamp on one end. I do however this this is a limited release as I could not find it on the Ciate website, but Fierce Flicks liner is great as well

2. Tarte Shape Tape If you watch and beauty vloggers or influencers you already know that everyone is obsessed with this stuff! I was skeptical at first, but I too love it. The coverage is great, it is super easy to blend and it has a citrus sent that I love. Although it is on the more expensive side it is the best concealer I have found thus far

3. Essence Rock & Doll Mascara this is just so good! I would compare it to Benefit, There real mascara but better because it is around 6$!

4. Profusion Contour Kit I bought this as one of those end cap gift ideas around Christmas and have used it almost everyday since! It is so affordable and it really does have perfect contour colors, and the included highlighter is not bad either as well as the matte base color I use as a eyeshadow base before colors.

5. Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder I prefer a loose powder over pressed when setting my face and this one is awesome! Really does last all day and also works well to bake oily areas. A really great option is you need a more affordable setting powder

What are some of the beauty products you use on a daily basis?

Happy day to you!

Currently Loving : Fall Fashion Finds from Zara

Colorado is getting its first Zara and I am thrilled! Jerrod and I have only ever been able to shop at Zara when we visit other cities and I really love all of their stuff so I am so excited! Another thing that I am super excited for is Fall; so while perusing online I thought I would share some of my favorite prices right now from Zara for the upcoming colder months.

I am all about the fact that the plaid pant trend is back and can I also mention the PVC shoes and purses. I love! They are such a blast from my past because I totally remember things like that when I was in middle school, but as they say all fashion comes back in at some point. 😝

What is your favorite fashion trend?

Happy Tuesday!
